The red color of Ruby is produced by the presence of Chromium in the gem. For a gem to be considered a Ruby, there must be enough chromium to give the gem a distinct red color.       In Sanskrit, Ruby is Ratnaraj, meaning “the king of gems”. Rubies are actually mentioned four times in the Bible.
