Rhodonite Meaning and Healing Properties

Rhodonite Meaning and Healing Properties

Rhodonite is an uncommon pink manganese silicate mineral of varying composition, typically containing significant amounts of iron, magnesium, and calcium. Rhodonite often forms in metamorphic rocks with black manganese oxides which may occur as dendrites, fracture-fillings, or matrix within the specimen. Rhodonite was first discovered in 1790 in the Ural Mountains near Sidelnikovo. Rhodonite was named in 1819 by Christoph Friedrich Jasche after the Greek word “rhodo” meaning “rose”. During the 18th century in Russia, Rhodonite stones were placed next to sleeping babies to promote courage and a sharp mind. According to lore, eagles would collect Rhodonite stones for their nests. Parents hoped this practice would instill the characteristics of the eagle.

Rhodonite is found in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, England, India, Peru, Russia, Sweden and the USA. Rhodonite is the state gem of Massachusetts. Rhodonite rarely occurs with well-formed, transparent crystals and is highly sought after by mineral collectors. As a gemstone, Rhodonite is particularly difficult to facet due to its perfect cleavage in two directions, lower hardness on the Mohs hardness scale, and poor toughness, causing faceted gem Rhodonite to be very rare and expensive.

Rhodonite is an incredible healer that resonates with the Heart Chakra. Rhodonite helps to harmonize relationships and promote love, healthy relationships and forgiveness. Rhodonite supports you in expressing the love you feel towards others and working through trauma that has closed the heart. Align your vibration with the frequency of love by wearing Rhodonite or holding it in your energy field.
