Praisolite
Praisolite is the green variety of Quartz. Quartz is a mineral composed of silicon and oxygen, with a chemical composition of SiO2. All other varieties of Quartz, such as purple Amethyst, yellow Citrine, or pink Rose Quartz are colored due to tiny inclusions in the silica. The name "Prasiolite" is derived the two Greek words: “prason” meaning "leek" and lithos meaning "stone." Sometimes, Praisolite is referred to as “Green Amethyst” which is an incorrect & misleading name that should not be used.
Praisolite is naturally formed when an Amethyst bearing rock is heated by younger lava flows or nearby intrusions. Praisolite can also be formed by heating natural Amethyst in a laboratory oven to about 500 degrees Celsius or by irradiating natural Amethyst. Natural Praisolite is very rare and can be found in a small mine in Brazil and in small amounts in Poland.
