Mango Quartz ~ Golden Crown Quartz
Mango Quartz (also known as Corona Quartz or Golden Crown) is the trade name for a rare variety of Quartz with inclusions of Halloysite at the terminated point. Mango Quartz is a fairly recent discovery in the mineral world, discovered in the 1980s by Victor Carranza. He was known as the "Emerald Czar" , the largest exporter of Emerald from Colombia). Carranza is rumored to have kept the majority of the Mango Quartz for his personal collection and fill the mine shaft to keep a strong-hold on the market. Following his incarceration and death in 2013, Mango Quartz vanished from the crystal market. In 2017, the mine was rediscovered and has quickly become a favorite amongst crystal healers and high-end mineral collectors! Mango Quartz is a very rare find, found in only one place on the planet, deep in the jungle of Colombia at the Corona Mine, Cabiche, QuÍpama Municipality, Boyacá, Colombia. Only a few varieties of Quartz are as rare and collectible as Mango Quartz! Mango Quartz mining makes up less than one percent of the millions of pounds of varieties of Quartz. Because of its rarity, size and beauty in raw form, Mango Quartz isn't made into polished varieties.
