Himalayan Quartz
Himalayan Quartz is the trade name for Quartz mined high altitudes in the Himalayan Mountain range. This incredible and rare crystal is mined by hand in the sacred Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh, India, an area referred to as the Valley of the Gods. The word Himalaya translates to “Abode of Snow”. Himalayan Quartz can only be mined for roughly eight weeks a year when the snow line recedes to 5,500 meters. Himalayan Quartz is one of the most sacred and difficult crystals to obtain, because of their remote mining location. There is no electricity or mining equipment accessible at such high altitudes so all the material must be carried down by yaks on a seven day journey back to civilization.
