Pinolite, also known as Pinolith, is a black and white metamorphic rock composed of Dolomite, Magnesite, and Graphite. Pinolite's name originated from magnesite crystals in Pinolite look like pine nuts from the European stone pine tree; "Pino" and the Greek word "lithos" meaning "stone". Pinolite is a rare stone found in small deposits in Austria and northeastern Spain. Pinolite requires skill to cut because it contains materials of varying hardness and texture.
