Blue Scheelite is a trade name for a rare rock originating from Tungsten mines near Bursa, Turkey. It is also known by a confusing trade name "Lapis Lace Onyx" because it doesn't contain Lapis or onyx. Blue Scheelite is actually a mix of the minerals Calcite, Scheelite (which isn't actually ever blue) and Dolomite. Calcite and Dolomite are common carbonite minerals, which are usually white but can also form in blue and yellow depending on trace elements present.

Scheelite forms in metamorphic or hydrothermal environments. These conditions typically involve high temperature and pressure over extended periods of time, allowing the mineral to crystallize from mineral-rich fluids. Blue Scheelite often forms in vein deposits within metamorphic rocks like schist and granite, typically associated with tungsten ore bodies.

Scheelite was first discovered in the 18th century and when it was identified as a tungsten ore. The mineral was named after the Swedish chemist Carl Wilhelm Scheele, who first analyzed the mineral and identified its chemical composition.
