Cobalto Calcite (also known as Cobaltoan Calcite and Aphrodite Stone) is a calcium carbonate mineral. It is colored by inclusions of cobalt, a transition metal element, in the crystal structure. The higher the levels of cobalto, will give a deeper and more intense pink color. Cobalt is an important element with a range of industrial and technological applications. Cobalto Calcite is highly collectible for its rare and distinctive pink color! 

Cobalto Calcite forms in hydrothermal veins, particularly in oxidized zones of cobalt ore deposits. These mineral-rich fluids, seeping through cracks and cavities over millennia, give rise to the glistening pink clusters that collectors and healers alike cherish today. It was first discovered in the Calamita mine in Tuscany, Italy. Cobalto Calcite is found in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Morocco, Mexico, the UK, Australia and Peru.

Care: Avoid prolonged exposure to heat (or extreme heat), direct sunlight and contact with abrasive surfaces or chemicals. Remove before contact sports, weight lifting or activities where it may come into contact with force. As always, minerals higher on the hardness scale should be stored away from it. Cobalto Calcite is very soft and should be stored and worn with caution.
