Garden Quartz is the trade name for Quartz containing inclusions. Garden Quartz is known by many other trade names including: “Lodolite” (means “mud stone” in Spanish), “Shamanic Stone”, “Shamanic Dream Stone” “Dream Quartz”, “Scenic Quartz”, and “Landscape Quartz”. The term "Lodolite" comes from the Greek word "lodos," meaning "mud" or "marsh," which refers to the earthy, muddy inclusions found within the quartz. Garden Quartz is primarily found in Brazil, particularly in the regions of Minas Gerais and Bahia, which are well-known for producing high-quality quartz crystals. Other notable localities for Garden Quartz include India, Madagascar, Russia and Pakistan.

The inclusions within Garden Quartz are due to other materials that become trapped in the crystal as it is forming, such as other minerals (like Chlorite, Hematite, Iron Oxide, ect…), liquid or even gas. Sometimes Garden Quartz also has phantoms, although phantoms are not commonly present in Garden Quartz. Garden Quartz inclusions often resemble natural landscapes, such as gardens, forests, or underwater scenes, which gives the stone its unique and enchanting appearance.

Garden Quartz forms in hydrothermal veins, where mineral-rich fluids seep into cavities and fractures in the earth's crust. As the quartz crystals grow, they trap various minerals within them, creating the distinctive inclusions that give Garden Quartz its unique appearance. The inclusions within Garden Quartz are typically formed by secondary minerals that crystallize on the surface of the quartz during its growth. These minerals can include chlorite, hematite, feldspar, and other silicates. Care: Avoid prolonged exposure to heat (or extreme heat), direct sunlight and contact with abrasive surfaces or chemicals. Remove before contact sports, weight lifting or activities where it may come into contact with force. As always, it should be stored away from minerals higher on the MOHs scale.
