Petrified Wood is a fossil that forms when the organic wood of a tree are gradually replaced with minerals like quartz, chalcedony, agate and opal. The minerals crystallize in the wood's cellular structure, replicating the original woody tissues with mineral.

The beautiful range of colors of Petrified Wood are created by different mineral inclusions. Black is from trace amounts of carbon, brown is from iron oxides, blue/teal/green colors are from copper, cobalt or chromium, orange/yellow is from manganese oxiedes and pink/purple is from manganese.
