Guava Quartz is a variety of quartz, a mineral composed primarily of silicon dioxide (SiO₂). Unlike traditional quartz, Guava Quartz is known for its striking pink to reddish color, which resembles the soft, rosy hues of a guava fruit. The color is often described as a blend of peachy pinks, vibrant reds, and light oranges, sometimes with translucent or cloudy regions that enhance its ethereal appearance. Its color is caused by iron oxides, rutile, mica and other minerals like Hematite, Limonite or Calcite. Guava Quartz is relatively rare in the global context of quartz deposits, and it is primarily found in Brazil, Madgascar and the United States.

Like all quartz, Guava Quartz forms when molten rock (magma) cools slowly over time, allowing silicon dioxide to crystallize. The specific hue of pink or red that defines Guava Quartz is the result of trace amounts of iron, titanium, or other mineral impurities within the quartz crystal lattice. Guava Quartz typically forms in pegmatite deposits, which are coarse-grained igneous rocks that crystallize from magma as it cools. These environments are known for producing large, well-formed crystals. Like most quartz, Guava Quartz requires high temperatures and pressures to crystallize from molten or semi-molten rock. The presence of certain elements like iron or titanium gives it its signature pinkish hue, which forms during the cooling phase. The slow cooling process in pegmatites allows for the development of crystals large enough to be visible to the naked eye. Guava Quartz often forms in clusters or geodes, and its smooth surface is the result of millions of years of geological processes.
