Cobalto Calcite (also known as Cobaltoan Calcite and Aphrodite Stone) is a calcium carbonate mineral. It is colored by inclusions of cobalt, a transition metal element, in the crystal structure. The higher the levels of cobalto, will give a deeper and more intense pink color. Cobalt is an important element with a range of industrial and technological applications. Cobalto Calcite is highly collectible for its rare and distinctive pink color! Cobalto Calcite can form with other minerals like Dolomite, Malachite and Heterogenite. It was first discovered in the Calamita mine in Tuscany, Italy. Cobalto Calcite is found in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Morocco, Mexico, the UK, Australia and Peru.
