Turquoise is formed through a complex geological process involving the interaction of copper-rich solutions with minerals like aluminum and phosphorus in porous rocks such as limonite or sandstone. The presence of these minerals and elements, along with varying degrees of oxidation, gives turquoise its characteristic color range from sky blue to greenish tones.The most desirable color of Turquoise is a sky blue or robin's-egg blue.

Native Americans used Turquoise in ceremony and as a currency. The Apache believed Turquoise could be found at the end of rainbows.
