Black Tourmaline, also known as Schorl, is a color variety of the mineral Tourmaline, colored by the presence of iron in the crystal structure. Tourmalines are a large group of borosilicate minerals. Many tourmalines are elbaites, which are multi-colored minerals rich in sodium, aluminum, lithium and occasionally copper. They are adored for their array of beautiful colors causes by a huge variety of chemical compositions and color zoning. Copper Rutile is a variety of the mineral rutile, primarily composed of titanium dioxide (TiO₂), which contains significant amounts of copper, giving its distinctive reddish-brown to coppery color. Rutile is known for its needle-like crystals and brilliant luster, often found in various geological settings. Copper Rutile is considered relatively rare compared to other varieties of Rutile. The name "rutile" is derived from the Latin word "rutilus," meaning "red," which refers to its red-brown color. Copper Rutile forms under specific geological conditions, typically within igneous and metamorphic rocks. Rutile often crystallizes at high temperatures during the cooling of magma. In some cases, it can also form during the metamorphism of existing rocks.
