Aura Quartz is an enhanced crystal where a natural Quartz point or cluster has been coated with metal to give an iridescent metallic sheen. Various metals used in creating Aura Quartz include: gold, platinum, titanium, niobium and copper. These various metals and combinations of metals over the Quartz creates the different shades of Aura Quartz.
Aura Quartz is created through a process called vacuum deposition. Quartz is placed in a vacuum chamber. The Quartz is heated to extremely high temperatures reaching 1600 °F in a vacuum chamber, and then metal vapor is added to the chamber. The metals bond to the surface of the crystal and it creates a metallic iridescent sheen.
