Pollucite is a very rare cesium mineral belonging to the Zeolite group of minerals, containing over 40 different minerals. It was discovered in 1846 in Elba, Italy. Pollucite was named after Pollux, the twin brother of Castor in Greek mythology. It was associated with Castorite (also known as Petalite) because both occurred in lithium-rich granite pegmatites at this particular source. Pollucite is a collector's gem and is not often found in jewelry. Pollucite is a rare mineral, with significant deposits found in Canada, Italy, Afghanistan, Namibia and Mexico.

Pollucite forms in lithium-rich pegmatites, which are igneous rocks known for containing unusually large crystals and rare minerals.
