Candy agate from the Gobi Desert (also called Gobi candy or sugar agate) is a rare, naturally tumbled chalcedony formation from Mongolia dating back roughly 220 million years through ancient volcanic and sedimentary activity.
Agates are a translucent variety of microcrystalline quartz. Agate typically forms by the deposition of silica from groundwater in the cavities of igneous rocks. Agates form in concentric layers around the walls of the cavity, or in horizontal layers building up from the bottom. This produces the banded patterns that are found on many agates. Some of these cavities are lined with crystals which is called a geode.
Agates are among the first gemstones worn in jewelry, dating back thousands of years ago. Agates are beloved by healers for their incredible programmable properties. Agates help you ground into the healing energy from Mother Earth.
