Variscite is a rare phosphate mineral with the chemical formula AlPO₄·2H₂O. It is composed primarily of aluminum phosphate with water molecules integrated into its crystal structure. As a hydrated phosphate mineral, Variscite shares a family resemblance with other minerals like Turquoise, Apatite, and Lapis Lazuli, but it is distinct in both appearance and chemical composition. Its enchanting green color is caused by inclusions of chromium. Variscite was first discovered in 1837 in the Vogtland district of Germany. It was named after the historical name of the district, Variscia. Variscite is found in the USA in Utah, Nevada and Wyoming. It is also found in Australia, Brazil, Germany, Poland, and Spain. Variscite specimens of exceptional color are typically made into jewelry and are highly collectible for gemstone collectors.
Variscite forms in evaporite deposits under specific geological conditions. These deposits occur in environments where there is a high evaporation of water, often in arid regions or ancient inland seas. Variscite forms from the interaction of phosphate-rich fluids with aluminum-bearing minerals, typically in sedimentary environments. The phosphorus compounds are usually derived from organic material, such as the remains of plants or animals, which are buried and compressed over time. The high heat and pressure conditions in these environments trigger the chemical reactions needed to form the phosphate mineral. Variscite forms best in an alkaline, or basic, environment, where minerals like calcium phosphate are dissolved into the solution. As the water evaporates, these compounds crystallize out of solution to form the mineral Variscite. Unlike some other minerals, Variscite is hydrated, meaning that its crystal structure includes water molecules. This adds to its unique characteristics and makes it somewhat softer than other phosphate minerals that do not contain water.
Variscite is extremely powerful for activating the Heart Chakra. Its an excellent stone for those who feel overwhelmed by stress, anxiety, or emotional turmoil. Its calming energy promotes emotional stability, helping to soothe nervousness and quiet the mind. Variscite helps remove blockages that may have accumulated in the heart, whether from past wounds, trauma, or unresolved emotional issues. Its gentle vibrations help to restore emotional equilibrium, allowing you to open your heart to healing and love once more. Variscite encourages you to love yourself as you are.
It promotes hope and optimism for your bright future, while reminding you to be grateful for the present. Variscite is a money magnet that opens up new opportunities for abundance to flow into your life. As you heal and grow, Variscite encourages you to envision and manifest your highest potential. It helps clear away any lingering negative energies or self-imposed limitations that might hold you back, allowing you to move forward with greater clarity and purpose.

Herkimer Diamond is the trade name for highly collectible double terminated Clear Quartz crystals mined in Herkimer County, New York and the Mohawk River Valley. Similar double terminated crystals are found in many other locations like Arizona, Afghanistan, Norway, Ukraine, and China, although, its incorrect to refer to them as Herkimer Diamond.
Contrary to the name, Herkimers are not real Diamonds but Quartz! The name "diamond" is used to describe their exceptional clarity and well formed faces. It can be used as an alternate for the April Birthstone, Diamond. Herkimer Diamonds are typically double terminated because of the crystals growing with very little or no contact with their host rock. The host rock of Herkimer Diamonds are Cambrian-age, Little Falls Dolostone geological formation. The Little Falls Dolostone deposit is from about 500 million years ago and the Herkimers formed in cavities within the dolostone. Herkimer Diamonds can have inclusions like solids, liquids (salt water or petroleum) and gases (usually carbon dioxide). A black hydrocarbon is the most common solid inclusion.
The Mohawk Native Americans referred to themselves as "Kanyenkehaka" which translates to "The People of the Crystals" and the valley where they lived was known as "the Place of Crystals". They were the first documented collectors and traders of Herkimer Diamonds. Mohawk Natives made amulets and jewelry with Herkimer Diamonds, even burying their past loved ones with Herkimers.
Clear Quartz, also known as “Rock Crystal”, is pure silicon dioxide. Clear Quartz is named from the Greek word “krystallos”, meaning “ice”. Quartz is a mineral composed of silicon and oxygen, with a chemical composition of SiO 2 . All other varieties of Quartz, such as purple Amethyst, yellow Citrine, green Praisolite, or pink Rose Quartz are colored due to tiny inclusions in the silica. Quartz is the most abundant mineral on Earth and found all over it! Most of the sand in the world's beaches is actually the mineral Quartz. Quartz is resistant to weathering so as some rocks weather away, Quartz will remain. It forms at all temperatures and is abundant in igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks.
Herkimer Diamond is known as the "Stone of Attunement" because of its powerful ability to help you connect with Spirit/Source/God and spirit guides. Beloved by healers, shamans and psychics for their ability to connect you to the spirit realm, Herkimer Diamonds help you communicate with angels, past loved ones and other spirit guides. Herkimer Diamonds are incredible stones for energy work and manifestation because of their powerful ability to amplify energy.
